High performance ethernet to serial connectivity with PowerPC®, low latency, easy installation
Network-enable your serial devices for remote communication, monitoring and control!
Quatech's high performance serial device servers feature a PowerPC® from Freescale
(formerly Motorola® Semiconductor). This processor is part of a world-class
architecture that offers the lowest latency available anywhere. In addition,
the auto-sensing 10/100 Ethernet interface, and Quatech's proven high-speed,
921k-baud serial technology offer the best performance in the industry
and ensure that your critical business applications won't be harmed by
data throughput issues.
Installation Wizard - Easy to set up and install, Quatech Device Servers are up and running
on your network in 10 minutes or less. A unique Installation Wizard automatically
searches for and identifies any Quatech unit attached to the network,
even searching remote subnets if needed. No client software is installed
on your PC, just a small set of drivers that configures each serial port
as a new COM port on the PC. This allows software applications to access
the attached serial device as they are designed to, with no custom programming
needed. Simply point your software application to the new, "virtual"
COM port and you're all set!
Serial Tunneling - Do you have two serial devices that communicate directly with each other
and you wish to replace the short serial cable using the distances possible
with Ethernet technology? The two serial devices will then communicate as
if connected by a short serial cable; the Ethernet portion will be invisible
to the devices.
Auto TCP feature - For remote service and monitoring applications, try our AutoTCP feature.
The serial port can be set up to act as a TCP Client, requesting a connection
whenever the serial device is attached and powered on or, if you prefer,
whenever serial data is ready for upload to the host computer. You can
leave the connection on, or disconnect from the host after a specified
period. But when a service request from a remote monitoring PC (with a
specified IP address) arrives, the device server will act as a TCP server,
allow access to the serial device to the monitoring PC, and go back to
Client mode when the Server session is finished.
Industrial case - Quatech Device Servers are housed in a solid metal case suited for rugged
industrial environments and a surge suppression option is available, as
are DIN rail mounting for individual units, and rack mount kits for multi-port
models.
Software Selctable MEI - The 400 Series models introduce a software-selectable, RS-232/422/485 multi-electrical interface (MEI) to the device server product line. These units can be configured for RS-232 or for RS-422 or RS-485 asynchronous communication in either full-duplex or half-duplex mode.
